Although I am not a Baltimore Orioles fan, two good friends of mine named Isaac Barrow and Lawrence Barreca have brought to my attention involving some pretty interesting pieces regarding this kid named Chris Tillman. I know many of you O’s fan may probably not have heard of him, so I’ll try my best to talk about him because I don’t think I’ll be as good as Barrow or Barreca.
Hope you guys enjoy, especially you fans of them Baltimore O’s.
Chris Tillman, no doubt, is one of the top five, no wait hold on for a minute. Not even top five. He surely has to be in the top two as he was named the number two prospect for the Orioles, behind the amazing Matt Wieters. Tillman has been named for three awards, like on September 4, 2007 as he was named the CAL Pitcher of the Week. Or in 2008 when he was named the EAS Midseason All-Star and Baseball America Double-A All-Star.
Pretty impressive, don’t you think? I think so. It’s good that the O’s traded Erik Bedard to the Seattle Mariners for some good players including Tillman himself and Adam Jones. Right now, he has eight wins and six losses with a 2.70 ERA with the Norfolk Tides this season. Nice, very nice indeed.
Here’s what Orioles Scouting Director Joe Jordan said about this astonishing pitcher:
“I scouted him as an amateur. He was a wonderful acquisition for us in that trade. He’s got a little bit of the ‘it’ factor. He’s got an intangible he draws from. He’s a quiet, confident guy. He knows how to pitch. He’s going to have to continue to develop his changeup. The fact he had the success he had without using it as much as I think he needed to, that’s encouraging, but he’ll have to improve on that.”
Although he is a pretty good pitcher with a nice arm, he has also done well in batting his his average is .227. You know, now I just have to admit, this kid is a freaking beast. You have to agree with me on this. Yeah, I like Ian Snell too, but man, Chris Tillman. I like this kid. I just really wish my Phillies got him…or Pirates.
This kid is also pretty big at 6’5″ and about 200 pounds. This right-hander also had a nice 94 mile-per-hour fastball which is acceptable. His fastball usually just sits around the 90s, so that is pleasing isn’t it? I think so. As MLB.com says, he has a nice, above-average curve and changeup along with good mechanics.
You know what? I am now a fan of Chris Tillman. Well actually, I think many of you have noticed that at the starting of this article. Who wants to join me and make a big fat Facebook fan page all about Chris Tillman, huh? Come on guys, let’s go and do this.
Watch out for Chris Tillman, this kid looks like he is going to shine and have a good career.
